Possibly occasionally found in lawns and disturbed sites in any part of Florida. Rock dandelion is an introduced species now found in much of North America. Native to Eurasia.
This species has reddish-brown achenes (seeds), more deeply incised leaves and spreading outer bracts that are only about half as long as the inner bracts.
USDA shows a historic record of Taraxacum laevigatum in Polk County, Florida. The USF Plant Atlas now lists this species as a synonym of the common dandelion, Taraxacum officinale.
Taraxacum laevigatum is a member of the Asteraceae - Aster family.
