Burnsius albescens (Plötz, 1884)

Florida native
Found throughout Florida, the range is expanding through the southeastern states. Also found westward at low altitudes across the southern states into California and south through Mexico.
In most cases paler than common checkered-skippers. Males are bluish-gray on the upperside, frequently with complete black checks along the edges of the wings (as opposed to the partial checks on common skippers). Females darker on top, brown to black. Both sexes have larger white spots that form a rough band across the middle of the wings (median band). Underside of wings on both sexes dull white with dark gray markings.
