The most common epiphytic orchid in central and northern Florida is often found on live oak amongst the resurrection fern. The range extends into the southeastern coastal states from Louisiana to North Carolina, making it the only epiphytic orchid in the United States outside of Florida.
Three to 30 flowers 1.5 to 2.5 cm (up to an inch) wide form in a raceme with two or three dark green leaves at the base. Green fly orchids may be found as single plants or in large clusters.
