A frequent scrub plant occurring only in the central Florida peninsula.
Scrub wild olive is differentiated from Cartrema americana by the rounder (globose) drupes that will grow to 2-2.5 cm in diameter at maturity and the stone being pointed (acute) only at the base. The small white flowers are in panicles arising from the leaf axils. Each flower has four petals fused together into a short tube with the tips of the petals flaring back over the tube. The opposite leaves are revolute, simple, entire and elliptic to somewhat oblanceolate.
