A common small dragonfly of ponds, lakes, ditches and slow moving streams and rivers throughout Florida. The range includes the eastern United States west into Minnesota to Arizona. Also found in Mexico, Central and South America, except Chili and southern Argentina.
These are the smallest dragonflies in the Florida peninsula. Brownish overall with two pale greenosh-yellow stripes on the side of teh thorax. Males have orange wings, sometimes with brown or amber spots or areas, more likely in the southern peninsula. Females have highly variable wings, amber with brown spots or bands.
Perithemis tenera is a member of the Libellulidae - Skimmers family.
