This is a rare mint of scrub habitats in Marion and SUmter Counties.
The erect stems of longspur balm grow up to 50cm (19-1/2 in.) tall from a woody base. The leaves are opposite, and narrowly linear, up to 1.5cm (6/10 in.) long. The flowers are rose-purple with a pale throat and dark spots with a sharp bend in the tube. The four stamens extend beyond the corolla and the anthers each have two long narrow spurs. Anthers are typically white or yellowish, but can be lavender.
