Often found in shallow water or stranded on the banks of streams or shallow ponds and also in swamps mostly of the panhandle and central peninsula of Florida. Found at low and moderate elevations in various southeastern and mid-Atlantic coastal states from Texas into New York. The range includes Puerto Rico.


Sphagnum portoricense is a member of the Sphagnaceae - Sphagnum Moss family.
