A common annual herb of disturbed sites throughout nearly all of Florida. The range includes most of the United States and somewhat into Canada. It is also present in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean and also elsewhere around the world.
The erect or sprawling stem is variously hairy. Leaves are on 1-5cm (4/10 to 2 in.) long petioles with three obcordate leaflets, each 6-12mm (1/4 to 1/2 in.) long. Flowers have five yellow petals 5-11mm (3/16 to 7/16 in.) long.
