An occasional tree of bluff and mesic deciduous forests in Alachua, Columbia & Hamilton Counties and Jefferson County west through the Florida panhandle. The range include most of eastern North America west into Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Minnesota, & Quebec plus Utah.
Fagus grandifolia is a member of the Fagaceae - Beech family.
