Sisyrinchium xerophyllum

Florida native
A frequent perennial wildflower of scrub and xeric sandhills in much of the peninsula and central panhandle. Not found in the Big Bend and Suwannee River counties nor the western panhandle beyond Walton Co. Also occurs in Floyd County in northwest Georgia.
Sisyrinchium xerophyllum prefers dryer habitats than most of the other blue-eyed grass species and is also more likely to grow erect. Flowers have six blue tepals with yellow bases and usually arisate tips. The filaments are connate, fused together into a tube supporting the anthers.
Sisyrinchium xerophyllum is a member of the Iridaceae - Iris family.
