An occasional plant of sandhill and scrub habitats of the panhandle, north and central peninsula south into Highlands County. Also found in some southern Alabama and Georgia counties.
The many-branched pubescent stems spreading or decumbent and growing from 5-50cm (2 to 20 in.) long. Leaves are entire, linear to oblanceolate, 3-20mm (1/8 to just over 3/4 in.) long and up to 3mm (1/8 in.) wide. The tiny white flowers are up to 2mm (~3/32 in.)long with corollas longer than wide and appear in somewhat squarish-shaped cymes each with from 15 to over 50 flowers.
Paronychia patula is a member of the Caryophyllaceae - Pink family.
