Altica viridana
Rhododendron Flea Beetle
Synonym(s): Haltica kalmiae var. viridana
Not native to Florida
This species of metallic flea beetles does not appear to have been observed in Florida, although some of its host plants do grow in Florida, so it could possibly be found here. Other members of the genus Altica do occur in Florida. The range of Altica viridana is mainly the Appalachian region from Pennsylvania to Tennessee and North Carolina.
This species is differentiated from Altica kalmiae by its golden green color. The latter species is a bronze color.
Host plants are various species of Kalmia and Rhododendron.
Altica viridana is a member of the Chrysomelidae - Leaf Beetles family.
