Found in the central and southern peninsula of Florida. Also ranges along the Arizona-Mexico border and in Texas, Mexico, Central America and tropical South America.
Very similar to the queen butterfly but with darker thicker viens, particularly on the forewing and dorsal hindwing and less bold veins than the queen on the underside of the hindwing. Liek the queen, male soldiers have a black dot on each hindwing. Soldiers have small squarish to rectangular spots along the margin of the hindwings.
Danaus eresimus is a member of the Nymphalidae - Brush-footed butterflies family.
