Red mangrove oysters are the only oyster other than the Eastern oyster that occur in Florida. Appropriately mangrove oysters will likely be found in south Florida on the roots of red mangroves in places like the Everglades.
Crassostrea rhizophorae is a member of the Ostreidae - True Oysters family.
