Pycnoscelus surinamensis

These medium-sized cockroaches are native to Asia and can be found from Florida to Texas and tropical areas world-wide.
Under 3cm (1-3/16 in.) in length with a hairless surface. This individual was 17mm (2/3 in.) long and 9mm (1/3 in.) wide. Adults are olive-green to brown, the dark brown to black pronotum has a pale leading edge and completely covers the head. Nymphs are dark drown overall.
There are no males in North America. Reproduction is from unfertilized eggs with the young emerging from the abdomen of the female.
Pycnoscelus surinamensis is a member of the Blaberidae - Giant Cockroaches family.
