A frequent herb of flatwoods, bogs, swamp margins and ditches throughout nearly all of Florida. The range extends through the southeastern coastal states from Louisiana to North Carolina.
The four-petaled yellow flowers are solitary on pedicels with four stamens, a short (up to 3 mm long) style and reflexed ovate calyx lobes. Seed capsules are nearly the same width as length. The alternate,narrowly linear-oblong leaves have rounded or obtuse bases with the lower leaves pubescent.

Ludwigia maritima is a member of the Onagraceae - Evening Primrose family.
