Florida native
A sparsely branched shrub of moist hammocks, stream banks, slope forests, bluffs and calcareous woods in the panhandle and north Florida, plus Hernando County. The range extends through the southeastern coastal states from North Carolina to Texas and into Arkansas.
Typically growing from one to three meters tall, with glabrous stems and leaves. The small, green to yellowish green flowers appear in spikes up to 4 cm (~ 1.5 in.) long from mid spring to early summer. The fruit is a three lobed green conspicuous capsule 4-8mm (to 3/8") in diameter.
Sebastiania fruticosa is a member of the Euphorbiaceae - Spurge family.
