Not native to Florida
This shrub, native to Mexico and Guatemala, is often found in Florida landscapes and has escaped cultivation in Dade County.
Slender goldshower is also found in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Galphimia gracilis has many flowers of each inflorescence open at the same time. Each of the five yellow petals (both the claw and limb) are 8-14mm (~1/3 to just over 1/2 in.) long and 4-8mm (~1/6 to 1/3 in.) wide. These petals fall off as the fruit matures.
Galphimia gracilis is a member of the Malpighiaceae - Barbados Cherry family.
