Florida native
A frequent succulent of salt flats, salt and freshwater marshes and mangrove swamps throughout much of coastal Florida. The range includes the southeastern coastal states from Louisiana into Virginia. The range includes the islands of New York city and the nearby mainland in New Jersey, New York state and Connecticut. Also found in New Hampshire, Washington state and British Columbia.
The stems are jointed, branching opposite and greenish before turning a brownish red. Stems can become woody. The scale-like leaves are opposite. The small flowers are found in the upper jointed leaf axils.
Salicornia ambigua is a member of the Amaranthaceae - Amaranth family.
