A common wildflower of wet flatwoods and marshes throughout the Florida peninsula, less widespread in the panhandle. Also h=found in Houston County, Alabama.
Largeflower rosegentian is an annual with five pink petals, alternate branches and peduncles, linear caylyx lobes, sepals about 3/4 as long as the petals, with leaves having obscure venation that are thick and rugose(wrinkled or corrugated) and not as wide as the stem. The base of the petals forms a yellow star with a purple border surrounding a green ovary. There are five stamens with prominent yellow anthers and a twisted stigma.
Sabatia grandiflora is a member of the Gentianaceae - Gentian family.
