An occasional herb of sandhills and dry flatwoods through the panhandle, north Florida and into the central peninsula. The range extends throughout the southeastern coastal states from Texas to Virginia.
A perennial with pubescent 4-angled stems growing to a meter or more tall. Small 5-lobed pink to pinkish-lavender flowers appear on long spikes.
Stylodon carneum is a member of the Verbenaceae - Verbena family.
