Spalacopsis sp.
A Flat-faced Longhorn Beetle

This insect was seen on a red spiderling plant near the Atlantic Ocean in Volusia County.
After receiving a hint from a BugGuide.net contributor that this insect looks like a member of the Spalacopsis genera of flat-faced longhorn beetles, I thought that it looked most like Spalacopsis filum subsp. rostulatum. More recently one of the BugGuide experts tentatively identified it as Spalacopsis stolata, with S. suffusa as an alternative possibility.
Spalacopsis sp. is a member of the Cerambycidae - Longhorned beetles family.
