The entire range of this plant is limited to five Florida counties: Levy, Marion, Citrus, Sumter and Volusia. It is found in floodplains, wet woods and swamps.
Florida pinkroot is a small herb growing to about a foot tall (30 cm) having opposite, sessile leaves with entire margins. The small white flowers can be terminal or in the leaf axils, blooming from April to July. The corolla is funnel-shaped with 5 pointed lobes.
Spigelia loganioides is a member of the Loganiaceae - Logania family.
