An occassional small creeping perennial herb mostly found in coastal counties of peninsular Florida and into the central panhandle. Also in Clay, Marion, Lake and Seminole Counties. The range includes Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, the West Indies and Mexico, plus Central and South America.
Tropical puff has yellow or greenish-yellow flowers in spherical heads. The fruit is flattened, about one inch long and splits open when ripe. The distinctive leaves are sensitive and will close when touched.
Neptunia pubescens is a member of the Fabaceae - Pea family.
