Rhexia nuttallii

This small plant is frequent in flatwoods, bogs and savannas thoughout much of Florida and is also found in Georgia and Mississippi.
The stem is square, smooth, unbranched, often prostrate and up to 35 cm (14 in.) tall. Opposite ovate leaves are smooth and three viened with hairs along the margins. One of two Rhexia species with pink or purple flowers and short, straight anthers. R. nuttallii having many glandular hairs on the floral tubes and urns. The hypanthium of R. petiolata is glabrous and the lower leaf surface is hairy.
Rhexia nuttallii is a member of the Melastomataceae - Melastome family.
