This is the only species of windscorpions found in eastern North America, occurring in Florida and the West Indies. Most of the species are found in the arid western states.
These nocturnal creatures feed on termites.
Members of the Solifugae family have very large chelicerae and long, slender, leglike pedipalps.


Ammotrechella stimpsoni is a member of the Ammotrechidae - Curve-faced Solifugid family.
