The opposite or whorled leaves distinguish this plant of sandhills and dry pinewoods from the other species of this genus in Florida. Frequent from central Florida northward and into the panhandle except for the Atlantic coast counties and the big bend area. The range also includes southeastern coastal states from Alabama to North Carolina.


Eriogonum tomentosum is a member of the Polygonaceae - Buckwheat family.
