Northern mockingbirds can be found year-round throughout the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and just into southern Canada.
A medium-sized slender songbird with a long tail. Adults are gray above and white underneath with two white wingbars seen at rest. Distinctive white patches can be seen in flight on both the upper side and underside of the wings. Juveniles have spotted breasts.
This is the state bird of Florida and four other states.
Mimus polyglottos is a member of the Mimidae - Mockingbirds and Thrashers family.
