Florida native
Frequently found in wet hammocks and flatwoods, marshes and floodplain forests in much of Florida. Ranges north into Georgia and Alabama. Also native to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central American and the northern portions of South America.
A perennial growing to 70cm (27-1/2 in.) tall. Leaves are lanceolate and up to 5cm (~2 in.) long. The small white flowers are in clusters in the leaf axils and at the end of the stem. Flowers have four narrow petals and long stamens.
Spermacoce remota is a member of the Rubiaceae - Madder family.
