A frequent vine of hammocks throughout most of Florida, less widespread in the western panhandle. The range is primarily the eastern coastal states from Florida into Maryland. Also reported from Kentucky and the Gulf states west into Louisiana.
Florida grape is a high-climbing vine with angled (as opposed to rounded or cylindrical) branchlets and divided tendrils. The alternate, heart-shaped leaves can be up to 15cm (6 in.) long. Leaves may be three-lobed or unlobed and have crenate or toothed margins. The small flowers appear in branched clusters as do the fruit which is a small berry, maturing to black without a whitish cast and 4-9mm (around a quarter inch more or less) in diameter.

Vitis cinerea is a member of the Vitaceae - Grape family.
