A frequent epiphytic plant of hammocks and swamps in the central peninsula of Florida, south to Lake Okeechobee and northward into Levy, Putnam and Flagler Counties.
Florida airplant has triangular-shaped leaves (long) and leaf sheaths (short). The inflorescence has a lavender corolla and floral bracts that are green or red-tinged.
