A rare perennial shrub of hardwood forests and cedar glades of Jackson and Gadsden Counties in the Florida Panhandle. The range includes the southeastern coastal states from Texas to Virginia, north into Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana, plus New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
The five-petaled yellow terminal flowers may be soitary or in three-flowered bunches. Leaves are opposite and entire, not needlelike.


Hypericum frondosum is a member of the Clusiaceae - Mangosteen family.
