A frequent escaped wildflower found in dry, disturbed site throughout much of Florida except the Big Bend area and the northern peninsula. This Madagascar native is now also found from North Carolina to Texas, plus Ohio and California.
An erect herb with opposite leaves, no thorns and spearate anthers and filaments. Flowers are five petaled and usually pink, but sometimes white.


Catharanthus roseus is a member of the Apocynaceae - Dogbane family.
