A common perennial wildflower of wet flatwoods, bogs and marshes throughout most of Florida. The range includes the Gulf and Atlantic coastal states from Texas to New Jersey, plus scattered locations in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.
White 7-15mm (1/4 - 5/8 in.) wide heads terminate multi-ribbed scapes 30-110cm (12 - 44 in.) tall and 1-3mm (up to 1/8 in.) in diameter. The heads are hard and barely flatten when compressed.
