A common plant of disturbed sites in nearly all of Florida. The range extends throughout most of North America.
The flowers of Ambrosia are unisexual, with the male (staminate) heads in racemes and the female (pistillate) heads clustered below the staminates. The male flower heads appear drooping on short 0.5 to 1.5mm (less than 1/16 in.) long peduncles. The variable leaves are mostly alternate with lower leaves opposite.
One of the photos above show ragweed leaves that have galls caused by the ragweed gall mite (Aceria boycei).

Ambrosia artemisiifolia is a member of the Asteraceae - Aster family.
