This variety of Ilex opaca is only found in scrub of central and north Florida.
Scrub holly leaves are1-2.5cm (less than one inch) wide with revolute margins, smaller and lighter than American holly.

Ilex opaca is a member of the Aquifoliaceae - Holly family.
