Florida native
A frequent plant of sandhills and scrub of much of the peninsula expet the southern tip. Also found in Franklin County and the western panhandle. The range includes the coastal plain from Alabama into North Carolina.
These shrub-like herbs with woody stems typically grow to about a half meter (20 in.) tall. The opposite, sessile leaves are needle-like and usually less than 12mm (1/2 in.) and long often with glandular margins. Flowers have five yellow petals, five needle-like sepals and many stamens.
Hypericum tenuifolium is a member of the Clusiaceae - Mangosteen family.
