The Atlantic white cedar ranges through all of the coastal states from Mississippi to Maine plus Pennsylvania. Its southernmost limit is in north central Florida. In addition to the panhandle, Chamaecyparis thyoides is found in Columbia, Putnam, Marion and Lake counties.
Chamaecyparis thyoides is a member of the Cupressaceae - Cypress family.
