A frequent native milkweed of sandhills and flatwoods in much of Florida. The range includes most of the United States east of the Rockies, plus Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
Asclepias verticillata has a single stem from 15cm-1m (6 in. to 3 ft.) tall. The whorled leaves are antire and narrowly linear. Flowers are greenish-white with white hoods.
