A yucca of sandy open woodlands and fields in the centrl and north peninsula and panhandle of Florida. The range extends through much of the eastern United States except for New Hampshire and Maine. Also found in southern Ontario and Quebec.
Yucca flaccida has been considered by some as synonymous with Yucca filamentosa.
Yucca flaccida is differentiated from Yucca filamentosa by the former having fibers not exceeding 4cm, a spreading or divergent inflorescence and sepals nearly as wide as the petals.
Yucca flaccida is a member of the Agavaceae - Century-plant family.
