A rare wildflower mainly of north Florida from Nassau County west through the panhandle of Florida and ranging into the central peninsula. Found throughout the southeast, west into Texas and Kansas, north into Illinois to New York.
Similar to dwarf St. John's wort (Hypericum mutilum) except that this species has leaves on the middle to upper stem that are ovate to deltoid (with triangular bases) and acute tips.
