An airplant of the central Florida peninsula from Flagler County to Lake Okeechobee.
The basal leaves of Florida airplant are 15-24mm (6/10 to 1 in.) wide at the base. The floral bracts are 18-21mm (7/10 to ~8/10 in.) long, 4-5mm (~3/16 in.) wide from the keel to the margin and uniformly covered in small scurfy scales.
Previously considered a hybrid of Tillandsia bartramii and Tillandsia fasciculata, which may very well be involved in this species' evolutionary orgins, Tillandsia floridana has now been elevated as its own species.
Tillandsia floridana is a member of the Bromeliaceae - Bromeliad family.
