An airplant of the central Florida peninsula from Flagler County to Lake Okeechobee.
The basal leaves of Florida airplant are 15-24mm (6/10 to 1 in.) wide at the base. The floral bracts are 18-21mm (7/10 to ~8/10 in.) long, 4-5mm (~3/16 in.) wide from the keel to the margin and uniformly covered in small scurfy scales.
Previously considered a hybrid of Tillandsia bartramii and Tillandsia fasciculata, which may very well be involved in this species' evolutionary orgins, Tillandsia floridana has now been elevated as its own species.
