In Florida, more likely to be found in the central and north peninsula. The primary range is North America and Europe, but found more widespread worldwide.
Often appearing in clusters of small reddish to orange disk-shaped cups ringed with erect, dark, eyelash-like hairs. The cups are small, up to 2cm (3/4 in.) wide, which start out closed then open to form a shallow cup. Typically found from June through November.
The eyelash cups in these photographs are likely either Scutellinia crinita or Scutellinia scutellata(common eyelash).
Scutellinia sp. is a member of the Pyronemataceae - family.
