A small wasp ranging throughout Florida and the southeastern coastal states from Texas into North Carolina, with occasional strays as far north as the Great Lakes area.
This is the only red-marked species of Pachodynerus in the United States, although they have a similar appearance to a number of Eumeninae subfamily members in Florida such as Euodynerus, Parancistrocerus and Stenodynerus. The red-marked Pachodynerus lacks the red-spot behind the eye which is present in the similar-looking species (see Euodynerus apopkensis


Pachodynerus erynnis is a member of the Vespidae - Yellowjackets, Hornets and some Wasps family.
