A leaf-footed bug commonly found on brushes and small trees in forests, woodlands and old fields year-round throughout Florida. They range through the southeastern states and into Mexico, Central America and across northern South America.
Male Florida leaf-footed bugs have a distinctive swollen hind femur with a single spike. In females the hind femor is slender with several small spikes. Acanthocephala femorata are 25-28mm (about 1 inch or more) long. The antenna are dull reddish to orangish and uniformly colored.


Acanthocephala femorata is a member of the Coreidae - Leaf-footed Bugs family.
