This is the common June bug found throughout the eastern United States in the summer.
A stout beetle 15-27mm (0.6 to just over 1 inch) long with metalic green elytra with gold along the sides.


Cotinis nitida is a member of the Scarabaeidae - Scarab Beetles family.
