Mostly found in Florida and the southeastern states, west into Texas and up the Atlantic coast into Massachusetts. Also reported from Mexico and Central America.
This large scarab beetle varies from 18-41mm (3/4 to 1-5/8 in.) long. Strategus antaeus can be differentiated from other species in the genus by the Elytra lacking sutural striae.
