These usually solitary birds winter in Florida. They can typically be found in damp, muddy habitats with cover, such as pond edges or flooded fields.
WIlson's snipe previously considered a subspecies of common snipe (Gallinago gallinago) was recently elevated as a separate species. Wilson's - Gallinago delicata- is the snipe found in the Western Hemisphere, with common snipe in the Eastern Hemisphere.
Gallinago delicata is a member of the Scolopacidae - Sandpipers, Snipes, and relatives family.
