Native to the Mediterranean, now ranges throughout temperate regions worldwide.
These aphids have yellow-orange pear-shaped bodies 1.5 to 2.6mm (1/16 to 1/10 in.) long with black eyes, legs, antenna and cornicles (dorsal tubes).
While Aphis nerii feed on many members of the dogbane family (Apocynaceae), the most frequent hosts are oleander, milkweeds (Asclepias) and Vinca species.
Toxins obtained form the host plants provide a defense mechanism for these aphids.

Aphis nerii is a member of the Aphididae - Aphids family.
