Dead Trees
A selection of interesting-looking dead trees.
The images that I titled "Reflections of a Drowned Forest" and "Rodman Trident" are of trees that were killed by the impounding of the Ocklawaha River to create the Rodman Reservoir. You can read about and see more photos on the Rodman Reservoir Drawdown page.
The photograph titled "Big Sabine" was made while kayaking the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail in the Florida Panhandle. This was near the landing for the Big Sabine campsite on Santa Rosa Island. For more from that kayak trip see the Wild Florida Photo Kayak Camp page.
"Death at Water's Edge" was also made while kayaking, this time in the Tomoka Basin Aquatic Preserve between Ormond Beach and Flagler Beach.
The photos of the large many-branching tree laying on the beach (in color above and in a sepia monochrome titled "White Sable Tree" below) were made on Cape Sable near one of our camps during a kayak trip in the Everglades National Park. More photos from that adventure can be found at Everglades Kayaking.
